I was arguing HIS post, I don't think that he's going to get anywhere near a noticeable performance increase with HIS system.

Building new is a completely different situation. I would, and have, recommended Sandy to anyone building a system today.

It's SLI 580 but you can see that there's no way he's pulling 120 in these games even with Tri-SLI on 3 monitors.

That's debatable. Upgrading from x6 to SB in this case is more questionable than the case of a new system, but still viable. I wouldn't call increases in FPS of 10+ or more negligible. Clearly he's spent a lot of money on his system, I would also attempt to do the same and get the very most out of it.

Take a look at this: http://benchmarkextreme.com/Articles...01100T/P6.html

44-> 52 FPS on an x6 overclocked from 3.3 -> 4.2 GHz with 570 tri-sli on 2560x1600.

Clearly the x6 is holding the system back in this case. Now ramp that resolution up a notch, throw in 580s instead - SB will DUMP on the x6. Hardly a performance difference he wouldn't notice. Case closed.

No, not average fps, but I can get constant 60 fps with vsync on in BFBC2. Without vsync, it's usually 75-100 fps, depending on the action and location.

This thread isn't about me and my rig, and I don't intend to make it so. The information in this thread, however, does pertain to me and my rig. Balla has some very real data posted here and it's quite hard to ignore.

Of course, I'm just trying to show that there would be limitations with the x6 that are noticeable. If it were a case of 200 vs 210 FPS then of course I wouldn't upgrade I think your rig is a good example because it really can highlight any cpu limitations - your cards will put it to the test.

Thread Starter
This is what I know to be factual.

My 1090T was slower than my i5-2500k in rendering, and encoding.

My 1090T was not able to push my 470 to the same level of FPS (bottlenecking even with 6 cores used) on a single GTX 470 as my i5-2500k was.

My 1090T was about 33% slower in Integer core performance vs my i5-2500k despite a 2 core advantage.

In all situations where my 1090T was able to use 6 cores it still under performed compared to my i5-2500k.

The cost of going to a i5-2500k and UD4/Pro board was less than the cost of a 1090T /w Crosshair IV (or other mid/high end AMD board).

At no point in time not at 4GHz, not at 4.5GHz was my 1090T truly capable of getting everything from my single GTX 470. My upgrade path was to SLI - At which point I came to the realization after arguing for some time with i7 users that all the "low gpu usage in x" was my future if I did not listen to reason and upgrade to a faster chip.
