Going to start my OC!!

Thread Starter
I have yet to try a very good OC on this chip. I was wondering if you guys/gals would share some of your tools that you use for temps and benchmarks. I would also like to see fps somewhere too so I can see how much of an improvement it is for me when this is OC'ed.

Thanks

for basics, start with this spec sheet from AMD

staying within those limits will help keep your chip safe on your new OC.

for a stable OC, just go slowly and keep stress testing

I would avoid pushing the voltage too far, you're running on a 3+1 power phase which is fine for a 95W processor at stock/with stock cooler but may be risky overclocked.

If you have a tower air cooler (no air going to the VRMs/power phase at all) don't even overclock.

Use CoreTemp and/or HWMonitor to monitor temperatures. There may be two CPU temperatures: a "CORE" temp and a "CPU" temp. The offset between these two may be different depending on the specific processor (i.e. 12C core offset on the x6, but different on other chips), but trust the highest valued one.

For the tools when I oc , I usually stress with Prime95 and I use Asus Probe II so I can see my temps and than I usually run a benchmark from a game like GTA IV / Resident Evil 5 / crysis.

Good Luck
