Upgrading Asus K52Jc

Thread Starter
I recently got a Asus A52J, 15.6" model, as a replacement for my previous laptop(kind of an rma etc.), at the local IT store, and i had three choices of laptops to choose from as a replacement.

The worker goes through the laptops, explaining in details etc., and says that the A52J is best suited for gaming since it had an NVidia gpu, saying that they are more 'forward' in notebook gpu's than AMD, and i took his word for it. But later, to my surprise, i found out that it had the rebranded Geforce 310m.

And it hasn't been that great to game on so far.

Anyway, long story short. Is it possible to upgrade the gpu, to something like GTX 460m?

Not at all, unfortunately the power requirements for a 460m are much higher than what the psu of that unit could supply, on top of that the cooling built into that unit would not be able to handle the additional heat. Also it would cost around $800 to buy a 460m outright.

Found a Geforce GTX 460M 1.5 GB on ebay, costs $280, EDIT: but its for other laptop models.

And yeah, it'd easily over-heat with the cooling thats built for 310m x_x

So its basically impossible, unless one would risk over-heating issues, changing the gpu.
