Steam offers advertising, customer support, DRM, statistics, multiple server farms, etc...

For a developer to do all of the above, it would cost them quite a lot.
Once again...

Id love Steam if I could get better internet than Satellite where I live. I get 60k down and am only allowed 7.2GB/month Rolling 30 days for $55/month. Fix that for me and im fine with Steam. In the mean time im forced to kinda hate it especially when game updates are forced and are huge. I get FAPPED

I would rather have it be like Red Faction Guerrilla.. All you need is an email and a password to activate it on however many computers you want.

or like X3, that doesnt even have a DRM.

Basically that means that you should have just downloaded it off Steam.

The PC game section in pretty much any store is pitiful, and usually only contains WoW, adventure games, girly games, and 3 year old sports games. Any decent games you'll find are usually overpriced.

Why pay $60-$70 for a game in store when you can get it for $40 on Steam?

60-70 bucks? What?

I find good deals around, Target, Wal-Mart, Best Buy (got metro 2033 for 29.99 at best buy and its 39.99 on steam ) GameStop...

I dont buy games that are 59.99 when they are released, I just wait a few months then buy them discounted.

Retail games use steam because it's the greatest thing ever.

They are discounted because nobody buys them though.

And wait an equal period of time and you'll probably get the same game off of Steam for $5-10.

I'd rather have the physical disk.

It would be cool if steam added the option to have the retail disc and book for an extra five bucks.. or free.
