How to use my Xbox 360 controler for pc games? - Page 2

killerhz is wrong.

In fact, I bought a 360 controller SOLELY to use with my PC - I don't even have a 360 - and I didn't need any secondary hardware. Any Games For Windows certified game tends to work with the 360 controller (as long as it's not a mouse/keyboard game)

I played COD4, left 4 dead and many other games with a 360 controller that are mainly used on keyboard. You don't have to download any other drivers than what Windows will install.

Um...? I don't get it when people quote me as if they're refuting me, then just parrot things back.

am not 100% sure so maybe like the post below mine suggests, google it. sorry for not being that helpful.
i dont know what you're smoking but you are wrong

you have a wired version of the controller
if it is a usb plug
just plug it in to your pc and depending on your os will install it, or you will have to manually install the drivers
almost a plug and play that simple

The drivers will install automatically from Windows Update. Just plug the controller into a USB port. Then go play the game.

For wired Xbox 360 Controller, just plug it in.
Windows XP you will need to download a driver, Windows 7 it auto installs.

For Wireless Xbox 360 Controller you need to purchase a USB receiver, it should come with drivers.

(for a wireless controller, why do I need that receiver?) because wireless controllers use 2.4ghz frequency to transmit to your Xbox360 and computers do not have a built in receiver that is compatible with them.

Even non-GFWL games will work with a software called Xpadder.
