C300 keeps wiping itself?

Hi guys,

I have an urgent matter here because I need my PC for college. I'm having a major problem with my C300 that I recently purchased this last week and received yesterday. After spending about 4 hours setting up Windows 7 and the SSD tweaks, installing all essential programs that I frequently use to that drive, all driver software, and a few games everything was running smoothly for about a day.

All of a sudden, while I'm playing a little bit of WoW and chatting to one of my friends over Skype, my game freezes completely, then about 30 seconds later my whole screen goes black but I can still chat to my friend, then my computer completely froze. I rebooted the computer and to my surprise, the SSD can't boot into windows because it can't find any bootable data.

So I go into parted magic via bootable CD and look at my SSD's partition status and it says the whole drive's data is unallocated. This is the second time this complete wipe happens, first time it happened much faster; it was after I had just got finished installing Windows 7 yesterday and installing the video drivers. It worried me, but I didn't think much of it, thinking it may have just been a bad Windows 7 install (first installation was through the Marvell 9128 controller on my Rampage III Formula).

I'm at a complete loss as to what the issue can be and I can only suspect a defective SSD, which is a bummer because my last drive (G.Skill Falcon) died on me also. I didn't start having so many SSD issues until I swapped out my old EVGA X58 SLI-LE motherboard with my Rampage, but the problems didn't start occuring immediately (over the course of about ~3 weeks) enough that I'm still up in the air as to whether its my motherboard killing the SSDs or if the SSDs are just plain defective. I've already flashed my C300 and my Rampage III Formula to the latest firmware, have my SSD set up in AHCI, have tried both the ICH10R 3 gig and Marvell 6 gig controllers and to no avail.

Anyways, any help I can get would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like you've tried everything. Sorry to say I think the drive is no good

Well I just did a secure erase on the SSD, reinstalled Windows 7 (using the ICH10R controller again) but this time I made sure that I went into BIOS to disable the 6 gig Marvell onboard controller and install the motherboard software. I'm hoping this works because I don't have enough time to wait 2+ weeks for an RMA replacement.

Well it's been about a day and a half and no erratic behavior. I did a secure wipe of the C300, reinstalled Windows 7 in AHCI mode on the ICH10R port, immediately installed the Intel Rapidstorage driver (which I never tried), completely disabled my Marvell 6gb/s controller via BIOS, and everything seems to be running butter smooth *knocks on wood*. Hopefully this info can help anyone else down the line that might ever experience the same issue I did.
