I wanted to know if After Affects and Premiere Pro benefit from a fast processor or more cores? More RAM or fast RAM? If i'm not mistaken CS5 supports CUDA acceleration right?

Thanks

Yes you are right it does. The rendering that takes place would most definitely benefit from more cores and thongs like buffering would benefit from more ram. However faster ram will not have a visible impact on performance.

Adobe benefits from more cores - because of the complexity of the processes. I've tested it on Core2Duo and on Core2Quad at work and there is a big difference between them. Both, however, benefit from lots of RAM - its a huge eater of ram.

Naturally, you're editing video....video can never have enough ram lol....

Photoshop CS3 and later is multithreaded however most users will only see 2-3 threads used for standard image editing. When applying heavy filters on very high resolution images I've seen dual core CPU's pegged to 100% for almost 60 seconds while trying to render. CS5 tends to handle multicores even better. CS3 and later also support GPU acceleration through openGL with 256MB+ cards. CS5 likes 768MB+ cards only unless you apply a registry hack to enable them.

Premiere generally requires much more CPU and RAM compared to photoshop. When editing large or high resolution videos, the more the better for Premiere.
