MMORPG lag?

Thread Starter
I find lag in the mmorpg i play Jade Dynasty. It lags most when many people are on the screen at once. Having alot of Mobs on the screen doesn't make me lag. I can barely get 30fps on lowest settings near alot of people but i can get 60+ max graphics away from people.

Do I need a new graphics card? Or would getting 2 more GB of RAM help?

I wonder this because I'm using my sig rig which i can play many games on smoothly maxed out.

Could it just be the game?

Thanks

MMORPGs usually are very CPU-dependent. Your CPU doesn't seem to be very fast. 2GB of RAM is not enough for such games, either. Graphics card is good enough.

I thought a 3.2ghz would be decent enough. I'm using a dual core cuz im not even sure this game can utilize 4 cores.

Are you suggesting that getting a total of 4GB of RAM give smoother frame-rate?

I think more RAM would definitely help in this case.

the reason why u get lag as u described, is the server is trying to send you info, u send it back, and then send it to the others that are there, and the same info from them back to you. its called server lag. nothing you can do on your end to fix it.

Run the game, go to area with lots of players in which you start lagging, open up task manager and check your RAM and CPU usage. It's mostly likely your CPU, as 2GB should be plenty for those free games with usually lower visual quality, especially on XP.

Oh I see, thats why in WoW I experience little to no lag because their servers are better?

Server lag happens in any MMO if there are enough people in 1 spot.
Happens to me as well in Perfect World (by the same people who also made Jade Dynasty) before i got my gtx580. It would lag so badly at Archosaur (main trade city) untill I had to turn down the settings so I wouldn't dip below 20fps.

So what I did was play at offpeak hours on the least populated server. Seemed to solve the problem of overcrowding in densely populated areas.
