I want a FILCO!

Thread Starter
Hey, I have been looking pretty seriously at getting a Filco Majestouch with cherry mx blue switches (I have my heart set on the one with the blue chassis as well)

I found it at keyboardco, but between the price (inflated from what elitekeyboards sold em at) and the shipping to the USA its pretty extreme.

Can anyone point me to a cheaper reliable reseller of filco keyboards for us dirty americans?

Thanks,
Jgweb2000

I believe EK was the only reseller in the USA. You have to import them now.

They have been completely out of stock for Filco for months now. They're going to start offering Leopold soon I believe. Right now all they sell is HHKB/Realforce.

Although I believe the Leopold is just speculation, I don't see that officially announced on their website. It just says "moving to a new brand".

I've never heard of Leopold...

I did read that on their site though. They claim that Filco can't meet demands, so they're moving to a new brand. That doesn't really make sense to me though, since people who wanted to buy Filco boards may not want a Leopold board...

Didn't the guy who said EKB was going to sell Leopold say that he got a sample from EKB therefore validating the statement?

Replacement for the Filco Tenkeyless - The Leopold FC200R

Many of you have been surprised when Elitekeyboards announced that they would no longer carry Filco keyboards and instead will stock up on a different line of Cherry MX keyboards in 2011. With a few people peeking at the Elitekeyboards website source-code and quickly noticing a few changes, the cat did not remain in the bag for too long: The Korean brand Leopold will replace Filco keyboards in the Cherry MX lineup.

But what do we know about the Leopold keyboards? Unless you are fluent in Korean - probably not much.

Luckily, Elitekeyboards have been kind enough to hook me up with a sample unit, so I can give you guys a quick impression and a first advance look at what Leopold keyboards offer and how they compare to our beloved Filcos. The review sample I have received is the FC200R’s Japanese cousin - the Archiss AS-KB87T. Aside the name, the keyboard is identical to the Leopold FC200R that Elitekeyboards will be stocking in 2011.
This leaves me to wonder if they're actually going to be selling Leopold or Archiss.

Either way, at least it's not made in China.

Been searching around, the leopold keyboards look NICE if I can get it with a numpad soon. I have also been looking at backlit keyboards... I enjoy my keyboard being backlit and while I am sure I will perfectly enjoy an unlit keyboard... sometimes ill be hunting for some shift+number symbol that I don't have muscle memorized at night.

Bottom line: Cherry MX blues + good build + reasonable price + numpad + possibly backlit.

Edit: I just noticed my join date... this must have been the second or third forum I registered on when my family upgraded from dialup to DSL... god damn.

sixty received a review sample Leopold from EK. That's a pretty big hint.

They're all the same thing, they even come from the same factory. The Leopolds have better keycaps and some other features too.
