Zowie EC1/EC2

Thread Starter
Has anyone tried these new mice from Zowie? I'm interested in trying them, but I have a few concerns. Here's what they look like:

http://www.hitechreview.com/gaming/pcgaming/zowie-intros-ec-series-gaming-mice/26104/

Zowie claims that "The EC1 and EC2 black model , has a rubber coating to increase the grip when holding, while the EC1 and EC2 pure white model, has the popular smooth coating which reduces sweaty palms."

I have used the Razer Deathadder in the past. After about 10-15 minutes of playing, my fingers become "sweaty" and it becomes hard to keep a good grip on the mouse because of the plastic material on the sides, which is what the black EC1/EC2 appear to have

This same issue was present when I used an intellimouse 1.1 special edition (all glossy finish, no rubber whatsoever). After about 10-15 minutes the surface become slippery and hard to grasp because the moisture from my hand would not grip the glossy plastic well. The white Zowie EC1/EC2 have a smooth plasticy finish.

If anyone has used/tried these mice can you confirm if it is the same style shiny plastic as the deathadder and 1.1SE?

Yeah, I've been using the black EC2 for three weeks. Its same as deathadder coating, matte black plastic on top with shiny black on the sides.

I have the same problem with cheap and glossy plastic on mice. I solved it with my MX518 by applying steelseries grip:

This solution worked perfect. I can also work with a Deathadder:

Now I use a Xai and dont need any grip ^_^. But when used it with my mx518 and deathadder it worked flawlessly.

Is it me or do these look like rebranded Xai and Deathadder knockoffs?

difference shape and worse sensors. only if zowie made the dpi normal(400 or 450 internals) and made the whole thing out of rubber plastic or just plastic; no glossy stuff.

You mean a knockoff of a knockoff?

pict_2637.jpeg

The Xai isn't that innocent either, it has similar dimensions to the intelli 1.1. Zowie's just recycling a proven shape.

The Avago ADNS-3060 isn't really bad, but it does have prediction like the 3080 frown.gif

Also, I don't see how 500 DPI is really a problem, I mean it feels just like 400-450 with the right with the correct adjustments. http://phoon.us/mouse/#input

I prefer my EC2 to my Xai. That just may be because I haven't found the right settings for the Xai yet though.

Although, I just tend to replace mine since I can now buy legit 1.1's in bulk from china for around $30 (3 mice).
