What to do after I assemble my computer?

Thread Starter
So currently I am waiting on everything to get here which should be hopefully Friday if not Saturday. I have been doing a lot of reading and research and still am trying to grasp everything and soak it in.

Although I am not really sure what to do after I assemble everything and hook it up. I know install Windows 7, after that then what? I put my system specs in my signature.

Is mine capable of overclocking? I'm completely knew to the building your own computer scene still. Just trying to learn and make sure I do everything right the first time.

You could OC, but not very far on the stock cooler. What is this machine being used for?

You got a nice rig there. You will have alot of fun. My last couple builds, I do the following:

1. Install updated drivers - never really used the CD drivers anymore. I normally just get them online from the manufacturer's website.
2. Stability test - I don't know if this is a norm, but I like to test new systems to see what temperatures are like and if everything at stock is at least stable. After I know it is good, I then proceed to overclocking.
3. Install my necessities - Pretty much just use the PC now. But without downloading my 'first programs' first.

I think I've seen the 1055T overclock pretty well. This just from observations of people's sig rigs and 4GHz on the CPU description.

Assign the voltage, frequency, and timings for the RAM manually, as they're off much off the time. You aren't running RAID or doing overclocking (stock cooler), so just install Windows and drivers is pretty much it.

I would run memtest for at least a few passes to to ensure you didn't get some bad sticks.

Ahh yeah, good advice. My memory timings are never factory advertised when installed. I always have to manually set them.
