790X or 790FX? - Page 2

Are you buying the board new? If so, for the price of a 790FX board, you can get an 890FX board.

Biostar TA890FXE -- $119.99

EDIT: Oh, never mind, you ordered already...I should really be more observant doh.gif.

I really don't have a need for the 790fx, as I only plan to ever have a single video card, and the 790x board has 8 phase power with a good looking heatsink on it and overclocking features in the bios. I doubt this board was made without overclocking in mind.

Plus, I think I heard awhile ago that 8-pin is really only needed if you are going to do extreme overclocking, and that 4-pins are okay for air/water.

That sounds suspiciously like an ASUS board I recently bought Open Box from the Egg. Is it the M4A79XTD EVO by any chance? I don't care that it only has a 4P power connector since it's still 8+2 phase power and overclocks my X3 740 BE to 3.8 GHz with 1.48vcore. I really like it and it has X8 Crossfire as well. biggrin.gif
