My mistake, he is running the Accelero with the teeny fans that come with it. Ambients for him are around 20C for completess' sake. Sorry if anyone was misled, I thought he was running passively, but with those fans he practically. Anyway, giant, but great cooler!

My 8800GT's stock cooler was a freaking noise maker. Not to mention I could heat my hole room while using it lol.

I've thought about putting it back on. But with my high OC. I'd rather not it run @ 80C while folding again. lol

Ah. Okay. I put a fan on the cooler. (mines passive) But it doesn't seem to like being horizontally mounted. Might need to get another one that will work that way.

my 8800 gts 512 sits at 44-47c but i keep my fan at 100% and no OC. Once i start running anything graphic excessive it will get up to 60s and if i have any dust collections in the heatsink it gets up to 70 and becomes unplayable. I have torn my card apart and used better thermal paste and everything but it still runs pretty hot under pressure and 90 is unheard of.

I would be scared to OC this card just due to normal operation temps on extended gaming sessions.

Accelero S1 Rev. 2 cooler. Bought one off here for 20$ shipped. Can be bought on Newegg for 25$. Pretty much the top of the line when it comes to 8800GT coolers.

Agreed, it'll work wonders for you. Just be sure you have enough clearance with the case side.

THIS.
The cooler takes up a slot. Add a fan and it takes up another slot.

You don't really need a fan. But I whacked one on there, but it's really not working since it's not meant to be horizontal. If you have enough space between the two cards, then it will surely fit.

Well the cards take up 2 slot's and i have 1 slot between the cards, so basically i have 3 slots for each card including the slot for the card.
