ditch 460 sli for single 570?

If i did this, Am i crazy? seems like 570 out performs or equals 480 in a lot of games at my resolution 1920x1080p, and 460 sli has been giving me a lot of headaches lately so I figured maybe I'd opt out for single card 570 solution and maybe pickup another 570 down the road for SLI.

I can sell a pair of my 460 hawk for 360CAD right now, got couple of buyers. not sure if this is wise thing to do.

It may have something to do with the driver hack you are using. If SLI is indeed giving you problems, then a 570 would be a safe downgrade/sidegrade. Notice I say downgrade since two GTX 460's should easily dispatch a single. 570.

^ yeah, I've looked that way too. my next upgrade was to go with sandy but I decided to wait for bulldozer to come out; however, it'll still put me through to using SLI hack considering there are very limited number of SLI enabled AMD mobo

plus with games I play a lot, which is BC2 and vietnam and l4d2, having 2 cards doesn't really benefit it much right now at this resolution. But I don't really know If I should go through with it. I'm not firmly set on anything YET. SO i need your opinions to decide

Would crossfire be a solution for you? Like two 6980s or something.
Are the problems enough to push you away from your cards?

Partially yes, I'd prefer to stick to nvidia, not a fan boy but I can find myself a zotac 570 for 319 at ncix right now.

I have actually taken out one of the 460 and put it back in a box couple days ago.. and just running one 460 overclocked. I think only thing I would be worried about is overclockability of new card? haha, I like the aesthetics of 460 hawk, and how well these bad boys overclocks.

The 570 is a very oc friendly card from my experience especially when water cooled, my suggestion would be to go with the 570 and solve any driver issues and then oc it and most likely gain better performance than the 460s with less power consumption and heat.

I had a 460 768 SLI combo and went to a 1 570 setup. The 460 768 SLI was a stronger combo that 1 570. 2 570 in SLI kill. Since I did not have any SLI issues I would say you will be performing a downgrade performance wise. However it is an upgrade in the simplicity department.

Dont know anything about your SLI hack though. If you are having issues try running your cards at stock clocks first.

I am seriously contemplating a change right now, - 2 GTX570 for a 460sli and 6850 CF combo. I am waiting for the GTX560;s to come out.

already made the change, look at my sig

performance wise, it's the same(at my resolution) when i overclock the 570, only time I'll actually see the difference is if i bench mark. Don't need big e-peen so i'm okay with single 570 for now.

Most games I see no diff at 1080. Crysis I lost 10FPS going from the 460SLI to the GTX570 AT 1080P. 56 to around 46 fps average. Now in 570sli that is another story...

I went from gtx460 sli to a single gtx570 as well.

Sure the performance dropped a bit, but honestly, it was the better choice in the long run. Under water the 570 loads at a whopping 40c. Definitely worth the price.
