You think Samsung is bad? Motorola is far worse!

This sounds like another I'm a T-mobile rep story that has gone too far. I'm calling BS.

Mmmm my error, you're correct. I'm getting threads mixed up.

He has the Vibrant? This article is specifically about the Vibrant.

And, about the speed:

Quote:
We have already put it out there that most of out devices would see a speed boost with the new network. Just the Vibrant will see a bit more. So I dont see why that is such a huge surprise to your readers. But not full 4G.

So as you can read, it’s not going to be full 4G compatibility, but he does say that the Vibrant will get a bigger advantage from the upgrade than other phones on the network. I think we’d all like to see any increase in speed no matter how small it is.

The HD2 has hsdpa too iirc. can we get an official 2.2 for that?
So big hype about nothing this article was(yoda voice)

Some guy at XDA has created a class-action lawsuit pretty much because of this.

Agreed. At least Samsung makes very nice phones with unlocked bootloaders. Droid1 owner.

The point is that they are screwing over current owners and making their phones look less appealing than the next release.

The HD2 does have HSPA; I own one. It's not an Android phone though, so I don't know what you mean by "official." I have 2.3.1 on my HD2, via custom ROM though.

The point of the article is that Samsung isn't releasing the Android update OVER THE AIR. That's what official means. You're getting the latest Android officially directly from Samsung; a build designed for your specific phone. Meaning those Vibrant owners who have no clue about custom ROMs and flashing and whatnot are stuck with the older version of Android.

It can very easily be an android phone. So they should release an official android version of it is what i'm getting at

I thought the point of article was that vibrant owners could be getting 4g speeds with an android 2.2 ota upgrade but instead they are being deprived of that by samsung to make the 4g phone more interesting which is inaccurate since hsdpa is not 4g
That's what i got out of the article anyway
And i'm quite versed in modding my own phone so if I had a vibrant then chances are 2.2 would already be on it
Personally I think true 4g should be the selling point of the new phone not android 2.2
And really is 2.1 really that bad? it's not like they're stuck with 1.6 or anything like the garminfone was until garmin released a 2.1 upgrade
