My first build, what do you guys think? - Page 2

post #11 of 19
Are you going to be OC'ing? If so, you might think about some memory with tighter timings instead of the CL9 go with CL7 or maybe even 8.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231430

These are a little more but will be more stable than the CL9

EDIT: Really any corsair PSU will be fine, there is a 650TX for like 59.99 after rebate. Yes it is overkill for now but if you decide to go up to x-fire then it will be there for you to use.

The PSU is fine, actually I think of it like this:

- For one graphics card that's not a 480 GTX or whatnot, it's overkill --> Go 550
- For two graphics cards, it might cut it a bit close --> Go 750

For your Hard Drives, you might as well drop the WD Blue's and get two Samsung F3 1TB's ($55 after the HARDOCP112C promo code).

The G.Skill RAM is fine, if you can find tighter timings for $10 - $20 more, go for that, otherwise just stick with what you've got.

I'd stay away from the Corsair CX line.

Im still new at all this, everything I know is from the little research ive done. see if yall can help me understand a little better. wouldn't a SATA3 (6.0gbs)setup be better than the SATA2 (3.0gbs) setup?
post #16 of 19
Not really,

Sata 6Gb isn't realy worth it on mechanical drives. It's not really worth it on SSD drives either.

The reason you want the 1TB F3 drive is because of the increased cache.

So in short, no, SATA6GB isn't worth it and nor will it make any performance difference.

You are flat out 100% wrong, the only reason you're saying that is you have the blacks whereas my information is based on fact.

Anything less than 1TB drives and the F3's are quicker, The 2TB WD black is slighly faster than the samsung.
