Only solution to this is to go into the fallout.ini and alter the Ugridstoload value, usually upping it to 7/9/11 (always odd values)

Thing is, althoguh it works perfectly and renders more "grids" around the player with full textures, it also causes crashes. (Think it's due to the games memory management, not sure) Secondly, once you save your game using the new settings, there's no way to undo the changes (if you try, it'll only crash when tryign to load)

It also appears to increase the odds of NPC's spawning in objects, as well as in rocks and in the ground, etc. (This is a common issue in New Vegas anyway, but worsens greatly when altering Ugrids)

So, basically, because Gamebryo is so rubbish in New Vegas/Fo3, it's just not worth doing it. Nonetheless, it does at least make the game look acceptable for a brief moment, even if it is practically unplayable.
i would imagine the crashes would probably relate to another cvar in the ini file i know in quake3 for some large cell shaded maps i had to edit a cvar to allow it to use more of my ram/vram or something like that... if i didnt the map would always crash on load

not sure on the details... but food for thought
Kinda meh now...

I've experimented with the ini file extensively, even way back during my oblivion/fallout 3 days.

I've adjusted all the memory values (Cell buffers, preload size limit, >2gb flag, HDD cache) none of which have any effect on the frequent crashing (In regards to Ugrids that is)

Sad really. Whats sadder is that i've spent such rediculous amount of time trying to make the game(s) run decently in the first place.
