Few questions on the 775 Celeron/Celeron D

Hi everyone,

I am going to be overclocking a 775 CPU, still deciding on a Celeron, Celeron D or a Pentium 4 for the overclock, but the Celerons seems to be a lot cheaper

Just a few questions on the CPUs:

What is the thermal thresholds for the CPUs? I am an AMD guy but I know the Intels run hotter due to the different manufactuer process. Also is there a minimum temp they will run with, I will be using phase change cooling, so I doubt the chip will be running positive figures for temperature.

Also with regards to the multiplyers, are they locked? Is there a certain sort I should aim to get (I know that its only the AMD black edition processors that are unlocked etc) is it easy to unlock them if they are locked as OEM?

Sorry about all the newbie questions, I have never owned an Intel CPU, only ever overclocked AMDs.

Hey, maximum temp is around 85°C, further than that and they decrease speed to save power. Celerons don't have cold temp bugs and they have clocked multipliers. No sk 775 CPU has upper-unlocked multiplier, OCing is thru the FSB; I'm pretty sure they can't be unlocked.

Hope this helps.

This Celeron D is running at 317 x 26, is the OEM multiplier 26?
