Do I need "Intel Management Engine Interface"

Thread Starter
Intel Management Engine Interface is listed as a driver for my GA-P67A-UD7 motherboard on Gigabyte's website but I don't see it listed on the installation CD. Should I install this. I have a couple unknowns in device manager and I wonder if it would solve that. Under Other Devices there is a PCI Simple Communication Controller with an exclamation mark and an unknown device with a question mark. How do I get rid of those. Thanks, Kent

I did a little bit of digging and it sounds like this package has the drivers needed for those two devices that you're seeing in Device Manager.

Once the drivers are installed, Device Manager should then look clean.

Wow TwoCables. Thanks very much for your help. I will try it when I get home. I wonder why the driver wasn't listed in the available drivers on the Gigabyte CD unless they are included with one of the other drivers. Strange.

That is correct.

After installing all of the drivers for my P8P67 Pro, I realized their was one unknown device in Device Manager. Said something about PCI communcations. After doing some searching, I found out that I needed the latest Intel ME driver.

*Edit*

@Kent10, probably because the installation CD was rushed.

Either the CD was rushed, or it's included but harder to find for some reason. But it should be with the Chipset drivers.

But anyway, you're very welcome!

I want to confirm that the install did get rid of the PCI Simple Communication Controller exclamation mark. I still have an unknown device value NUSB3\ROOT_HUB30 that I need to research. I have installed the USB 3 drivers so I am not sure what else it could be.

Thanks again!

What driver version did you install for NEC USB 3.0? Could have been outdated and didn't include all of the drivers.

I installed from their website the latest available 2.0.30.0 and just checked to see if there was another but there isn't. I found an updated On Off Charge driver which is related to USB 3 so I am going to install that in a few minutes after I update the BIOS which it says to do in the instructions.

The new On Off driver didn't fix anything. The only thing I can think of is that I disabled the motherboard audio but that is not USB 3 related. I will have to keep searching or wait for updated drivers USB 3 drivers and hope.

I did some searching and found out that it has another USB 3.0 controller, made by VIA. It controls the front USB 3.0 headers:

Good luck finding a driver. Since I doubt you'll be using it for now, try searching the BIOS for an option to disable it.
