1- Most tv's (not all) will only pass DD and not DTS though the optical.
2- Just because you are misinformed does not mean you should pass it out like its fact. S/Pdif does NOT have the bandwidth to pass truehd or dtshd, but it can pass DTS and DD. The second part doesn't make sense to me what you are trying to say, you want tv speakers and home audio speakers at the same time?
3- not sure where you were going here to be honest. I suggest a nicer brand case that looks good to you HTPC or not, whatever you like to look at. I suggest a decent brand b/c they are usually built better (design, fabrication, and materials) and tend to keep sound down a bit.
