MX Blacks vs MX Blues - Wat do?

Thread Starter
I've read the Guide, I've searched the forums, I've exhaused everything I know of, and I still can't decide!

I'm currentley deciding between a TG3 BL82 which uses MX Blacks, and a Razer Black Window, which, as we all know, uses MX Blues.

They are both the same price, the first one would be from OCN and the second would be a retail keyboard.

The advantages I can see is that I game a lot, but I do a lot more typing than gaming, and I do tend to misspel sometimes on my current keyboard (Sidewinder X4) because the keys are so squishy. The MX Blue's are obviously better for typing, and I prefer a full size keyboard.

So, what do?

Don't choose an MX black board for serious typing. IMO the switch is only a little better than a rubber dome for typing. And the mechanical keyboard guides MX blacks for gaming!!!1! thing is overrated. They aren't anything too special...

I vote MX blues UNLESS you type a lot at night in a building where people can hear you.. Most people have no trouble gaming on them.. They are fantastic for typing.

I'll vote for the BlackWidow....

With the TG3, if there a warranty behind it? I know it's stupid but warranties are a nice thing.

On a more aesthetic note, the glossy plastic face of the BlackWidow is actually kinda nice, and having a full keyboard layout is a plus imo [which you also want]... and red backlighting isn't my thing...

As per the actual switches, I've never used a black switch, but by what I've read, blues = typing heaven, and I love these blues on my BlackWidow

Either way you'll be happy, lets see what others say ^^

Hmm

I do like a full keyboard layout, and know a few people who own BlackWidows and speak highly of them. I like the look of the smaller layout, but in reality I doubt I'd like it.

The only thing I like LED's on my keyboard (my sidewinder has Red ones), but I guess I could live without them. The LED'd black widow is £30 more

Yeah that's the problem, the LED's come at a premium... I found it worth it, but it is an extra investment for something that won't be used constantly...

Also, the smaller form factor grows on you... least at first my dad hated the idea [a little targus] and now it's all he uses on his laptop, even on his desktop pc lol

I have been gaming on blackwidow for a few weeks now and it has been great. I wasn't sure about blues cause some people said they aren't good for gaming, but after playing with blues it has been perfectly fine.

I don't really think that there's much thinking to be done.

Blacks are FINE for typing, that's all they are. Sure, they feel nice in fast paced games, but if you type a lot, you will be infinitely happier with the blues...

Also worth mentioning that because MX blacks require more force and because the actuation point doesn't have tactile feedback, typing is much more stressfull on your fingers than it would be on the blues.

I would know... I have a blacks board as my main board and I know a person who has a blues board, and I have used it.
