Sandy Bridge driving me nuts.

Ok o maybe i was a bit impulsive, but i wanted to make a truly woop ass computer. these are the parts i have on hand.... not sure the best way to use them or if my mems are going to be ok.

ive got a 2500k and a 2600k
a 67ud3p and a p67ud7
6 2gb sticks of 1600mhz 7-9-7-24 1t muskin @ 1.65v
2 2gb sticks of 1600mhz 6-8-6 1t mushkin @ 1.65v

i just ordered this rasa water cooling kit:
http://www.frozencpu.com/products/12..._Hot_Item.html

i was going to use the water kit with the 2600k and the ud7, but do sandy bridge cpus have heat problems? will it get me any better OC than a H50? no one talks about heat with their 2600k or 2500k overclock. is it an issue like with the earlier i7s or is it just are you lucky enough to get a good cpu or not? I have a descent 950 rig i could use the water kit on. I know it would make a huge difference but i really want my 2600k at ~ 5.5ghz. so is cooling going to help me do that or is it just voltage and how much my cpu can do before i hit approx. 1.45v? from what ive seen anything over that will kill a sandy bridge very quick. don't need this cpu to last forever, they'll probably come out with new stepping in a while anyway, just don't want to kill it in a matter of a couple months. needs to last probably 10 months before i Craigs List it

any suggestions?

i max up at about 50c while folding with 4.5ghz and 1.24v

ambients are kinda high due to heater being on and the block i got is scratched up.

running distilled + silver. top rs240 rad with 2 high speed yates in push config- but on low rpms cuz i like it quiet haha.

but the 950 puts out more heat, so put it on that.

u can always mount the rasa on the 2600k /2500k then test it and what not then take the p67 mobo out and put in your 1366 mobo and mount the kit onto that.

i doubt u can hit anything over 5 with total stability those numbers u c on the web r just running cinebench or super pi thats all.

funny thing i found with sandy bridge is it can pass linx cinebench and super pi easily but will just crash if u prime with high overclock, 4.5 gig is more a down to earth possible speed unless u do nothing but bench...

so realistically the best i'll get is 4.5ghz..... whats temps would i expect at that speed on good air and 4 sticks of ram with a 2600K? Can most chips hit that or only a select few?

i'll put the water kit on the 950. thanks for the help

From what I've seen with good cooling at a pretty good OC, you'll hover around mid 60s C.

nice plan... OC the chip to burn-death for 10 months... then craigs list it to some unsuspecting mark.... hmmmm devious....... (and just plain not cool) (no pun intended...

You're getting some bad advice in this thread, my 2500k is rock-solid stable at 4.8GHz. A 2600k would go to 5GHz+ I'm sure.

Playing COD Black Ops is about the most strenuous thing I do to it for long periods, which puts my temps under a TRUE peaking at ~67C.

But for stability testing, 10 runs on high of IBT with the Windows SP1 and the AVX linpack put my peak core temp at 90C. Your water cooling kit WILL help these chips. I'm fairly certain I could get this 2500k to 5GHz if I could turn on LLC and run ~1.5v. As it is, 1.48v under LLC put me at 95c in a few seconds under IBT AVX, so obv I hit stop and prayed I hadn't bricked my CPU. No sign of damage so far

As was said before:
Your 2600k should do 5GHz+ with no problem if you use water.
Mine will do 4.7GHz@1.35 volts with P95 Small fft's and max out around 67C
on air!
I love sandy bridge!
