Graphic's Cards Scaling too Fast?

It seems like back in the day (8800 era), even a top of the line setup couldn't run some of the high end games at a playable FPS (Crysis). But now, we are in a era when the mid range cards of $200~ price bracket can max ( at x4 AA and AF) any game with a decent, slightly overclocked CPU?

What are your thoughts on this?

I think its awesome. It saves peoples money, not having to buy 3 high end cards to get decent FPS. Plus, there will be a game that comes along and whoops all GFX a$$ eventually.

Everything I've read on C2, its going to be a console baby. Its going to be based around DX9 and then ported to DX11, I doubt it will make much a dent in hardware development as the first instalment did.

The PC versions always have more graphics options. When Halo went from console to PC, it looked at least twice as pretty. This is the first Halo too.

I personally think that it'll look just as beautiful as the one before it but be better optimized for the GPUs. That's the problem of the first.

As stated above, I have a feeling its not going to be another "system wooper"

Part of me really want's a game that is, I have no real reason to overclock anymore. I'm not even running my GPU overclocked anymore, and my CPU is at 3.5ghz instead of 3.8ghz for power savings.

At Least not in the same way that Crysis did, i mean Crysis 2 will likely still cripple systems, but i doubt it will be like crysis where 3 years later people are still competing to get the best performance.

But i've noticed that too, as i have 2 cards that are now 2 generations old, that will still run any game out there at high/very high settings with great performance, were as several years ago 2 mid-end cards would be playable but not great, now you don't even need the highest end stuff to run the newest games at the highest quality.

Warhead also fixed a grip of those problems of the original game. Yes, it will be as beautiful as the first one, but I don't think its going to go much past that. I guess from the quality of the first one at the time it was released, I expect it to be way past the mark. Yeah, Halo was much better looking when they put it on PC, but didn't they also completely redesign the engine when doing so?

@Kevlo: I think it will be like Metro where 6 months later you have a good solution for it.

You have to remember metro 2033 was about the worst optimized game since Stalker: Clear Sky...got I remember turning on sunray effects and made my system beg for mercy lol.
