I've had good luck with my 5450 (as others have also) its at a nice price point. Often it can be passively cooled which reduces noise. I have no complaints about the HD audio that it puts out.

As far as the drive, any idea how much you're expecting to store on it? Which case you pick will also have some affect on how many drives you can manage.

Of course the best option is to have an OS drive and then media/storage drives. I went with that first. Then I needed a drive for another build and went down to just one in the HTPC.
Honestly, if I look at how much the processor works, I can see the difference. If I watch TV I can't.

So if you want to count cycles / CPU load, go with multiple drives.
But you'll likely not see much of a difference.

Hope this helps.

Not sure where you're from but you can get an i3 550 for $15 cheaper then the Egg offers the 540 at Micro Center. If you have the extra case then may as well use it if you have the room for it, I probably wouldn't want it in my living room but if you have it in a office and stream from it then not a real issue. A 5770 can be had for about $130 now with rebates, hard for us to offer advice without knowing which games you play but that should handle most games just fine with average settings. Keep your 5400 rpm green drives for storage and pick up a 64GB SSD, that should cover your OS and software just fine.

Thread Starter
ok guys i got my system all build thanks allot for your help i have it all hooked up and running know time to set things up. I wanted to use windows media center + media browser using utorrent TED( torrent episode downloader) and re-namer. I have run into a problem with TED it wont let me set any preferences. I then tried media center master but just got lost and confused. so what i am trying to do here is get a program to automatically tell utorrent what to download and re-namer to name the files so media center can read then.
