[PC Monitors] Asus Next Generation IPS Innovation - Page 5

They sure are taking their time making bezelless monitors for the gaming sector.

I don't need all those extra frills - they just add needless cost. I just want a good monitor.

There will never be a bezel-less monitor, at least as far as today's LCD panels are concerned, as without a bezel the edge of the LCD film would be exposed. You can get extra-thin bezels, but I don't see an LCD panel without a bezel appearing any time. Am I missing something?

Well, maybe if they wrapped the film further around the edge of the monitor? Then used a lens to magnify the backlight slightly to hit every pixel? I could see it working, but then again, i am about as much of an expert as a baked potato.

9000 times my ***. It's more like 1.00000000000000001 times better. It has no benefit other than power consumption and 0% chance of backlight bleeding

And the flexibility and thinness? Haven't you seen those videos where they take a hammer to it ?

When the heck do you need to flex your monitor or hit it with a hammer?!

To be honest, the Ghosting issue is blown way out of proportion, in my eyes at least.

Who even care how thin a monitor is? I don't look at the side of it, I look at the front of it, the display. I'd rather have a well built thick IPS, or a well built regular monitor, than a paper thin OLED that cost double the amount.

Not monitors, but car displays, watches etc.

There are a lot of possibilities which we prbly cant even imagine right now

Also, what about wallpaper or car coatings for that matter? Im not saying that it would be popular, but possible

If I recall an OLED display would have a refresh rate of 600Hz, the same as a plasma screen. Now, since I don't know much about how displays work, wouldn't you require some hefty bandwidth to display an image at 600Hz, especially at high resolutions? DisplayPort is the only connector that supports 2560x1600@120Hz, and that's only recent. Imagine 1920x1200@600Hz?

Idk why i was quoted for that, but obviously things will need to advance to get that far. But to called OLED pointless because we dont have the backend to support it doesn't seem fair
