GTX 570 dead - Page 4

Maybe your VRM died.

Also, 2300MHz is too high for the frequency.

I read a post for that on OCN and can't find it anymore.

Everybody advised not to go over 2200MHz

Still that card had something wrong with it. It was defective at the start.

I chose the refund option. I already ordered a new 570, this time EVGA, which is showing much better overclocking results. I am pretty sure the card was either defective or GIGABYTE just isn't a good 570 manufacturer. Based on a few other threads EVGA 570s can get the core clocks into mid 900's to over 1000MHz with the volts at 1.15v. I was really confused when my card could only get to 880 @ 1.188v.

Once again, it's not the temps, it's the volts. You say check the benchies on cards that are 99% of the time using LN2/Dice and "sometimes" water, but if you're running those same volts with an air cooler ... what do you expect?

I'm not overclocking guru, but from what I've read it's the volts that get you, and if you're trying to compete with LN2 benchies, then there is a problem. Each card handles volts differently.

I'm pretty sure of that now.

I've heard a lot of people say not to go above 2200MHz for the memory, but I was very surprised when I actually got it easily stable at 2300MHz with volts only around 1.125v.

lol... voltage kills too, probably even more than temps

theres no program that checks vrm temps, it was probably frying at 1.2v

i can put my x6 1090t to 1.7v and my temps will still be fine under water cooling, doesn't mean it wont kill the chip

even people who have their cards under water with a full cover block don't do 1.2v, maybe for ln2 benching

Also, there's a thing called a VRM might want to check it out. Also, don't write off a card as bad if it fails after a 16 hour non-stop pounding. Just because you can blow up something does not mean its faulty...

temps didn't get above 76C the whole time. afterwards I restarted my computer and it worked great. I played Crysis for about 4 hours. It was working perfectly until 4 days later when my computer shut down in the middle of Crysis Warhead. thats when the card broke.

It's a faulty card, send it back wink.gif
I've run higher volts than that with OCCT!
Just tell them, it died playing Crysis. They'll understand biggrin.gif

I mean! Dudes on here Fold on their cards for months and months non stop! And your card dies as easy as that confused.gif
And another thing! If they were so fragile. Would some have lifetime warranties confused.gif

I say the card was defective when you got it teaching.gif
RMA that pos biggrin.gif

Why the hell did you need over 1.1 for 880mhz?

I only needed 1.063v for 850. Surely you didn't need 1.188v for 880.

I agree with you about the different cards handling different volts differently, but that difference is shown by the temperature. I do believe that using high voltages will increase the rate that the card wears out by, but it shouldn't make it die in a matter of days.

and if you are arguing that the voltage is what matters in this case, then whether I have air cooling or water cooling doesn't matter at all. all that matters is that my max temp wasn't too high.
