GTX 570 dead - Page 7

I agree that your memory clock is what probably killed it. Seems a lot of people are having cards die on them at 2300mhz memory. I personally was stable for a 2 hour EVGA OC Scanner run and game stable at 2300mhz but I still backed it down to 2200mhz.

Still 16 hours is way overkill OP. Just let EVGA OC Scanner run its full 2 hours at your max resolution with GTX 500 series load limiter unchecked and heavy mode checked to test for stability and then game test it.

Lol. Yeah. Guess the music is an aquired taste to say it mildly, but he's good at what he does and is quite well known. And to give you some comfort I have spent an entire year up north here in Norway, and it was a record winter with 74 effective degrees Celsius. Down here its only -25c and so forth at its worst

Cheers

You left the card under heavy abuse for 16 hours in order to make sure it's stable as hell and it suddenly died.

We should take care of our computers better.

Why are people still using those out of spec stress tests for video cards. AMD and Nvidia throttled the cards to prevent people from killing them but users still want to run furmark, kombuster etc. Under normal gaming the gpu isn't nearly as stressed or consumes that much electricity.

Just run 3Dmark11, Heaven and play Crysis/Metro for 30 mintues to an hour and the stability test is done.

yeah, I agree with that. I still think GPU-tool is a reasonable stress test, but not 16 hours. I was doing it like i did my CPU, and I am inexperienced when it comes to overclocking graphics cards.

TL;DR.

IF his GPU had safe voltage's and temp's how did it crap out?

i mean folding farm's have more stress then this and lvie longer.

1.15v is really nothing for that card. Graphics card are design to handle abuse to extent. We ran our GF100s a lot harder than that. OP card should of handled 1.15v with ease, there as an obvious defect in that card. Believe me I've pushed hardware hard for a living. Only one part failed and that was a 4890 because it had a defect. OP just RMA say it died playing a game.

I haven't finished reading the whole thread yet. But so far this is an epic thread.

10 out of 10 for making me smile.

I wonder what difference did it make to raise the voltage above recommended levels ?

Get a 25 MHz boost on the core clock ? That means close to 0 actual improvement in performance.

Eh, there's always a risk of burning your GPU while OC'ing, I guess you were unlucky.
