GTS 450 Superclocked lockups and freezes

So, I recently upgraded to a GTS 450 from a 250, and unlike what most people say, I actually do get quite a bit more FPS from the new one. That is, only when it works.

Whenever I play something like COD, NFS HP, CIV 5, w/e, it just freezes up about 10-15 min into the game. I've been monitoring the temperatures using evga precision tool and such, and it happens whenever the card hits about 64C... obviously this is an extremely low temperature for heat related lockups, but im at my wits end here... i can normally extend gameplay if i manually set the fan speed to about 85%, but the end result is inevitable.

i've also tried a complete reinstall of the drivers, using both the nvidia software and revo uninstaller... i havent tried underclocking the card back to factory settings to see if thats an issue, but im going to do that right now... i'll probably update this page with the results.

thanks for any help

If anyone is interested, I figured it out... If you have the superclocked version of the gts 450, and it keeps freezing, try underclocking it the factory settings... Dont worry about the memory clock, just lower the core clock to 783 MHz and it should be fine

You you seriously had to down clock to get stable, I say call EVGA right now and yell at them. That's crap consider you chose super clocked.

I know... I'm just going to try to slowly overclock it backup until it become unusable, then back off a little...

Sucks tho that I got ripped off... Money doesn't come from a tree after all...
