New Monitor

Hello all,

I've been looking for a new monitor and my budget is around $300 dollars. I've found the following:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16824005142 (299 after promo)

&

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...&sku=S203-2770 (299 after promo)

As I'm no monitor expert, I'd like to know which you think would be the best choice for me and if there are any other monitors I should be looking into. I'll mainly be using the monitor for gaming and occasionally the random movie / show. Also, I'd prefer a 27 inch or bigger monitor.

Thanks for anyone who can help me out!

A 27" TN is as big as your going to be able to get at that price point. I have heard the viewsonic VX2739wm as being a decent TN 27" gaming panel. One thing to consider, how far are you planning to sit from your screen? Remember a 27" TN will have the same resolution as a 19", 21", 24" etc TN panels of 1920x1080. So if you keep the monitor at the same distace as the one your using now (assuming it is smaller than 27" with 1920x1080 res) the picture quality may seem like it is suffering. You might want to consider a higher quality 22 inch like the dell ultrasharp u2211? Just my 2 cents.

Currently, I'm sitting a solid 3-4 feet away from my monitor. I could easily move the monitor to extend the distance so I don't think that issue will be a problem.

Nice, I would definitely go with a large screen then. Out of the two you listed I would go with the samsung because of the faster response time. Both samsung and LG are pretty well known for their high quality panels. Probably can't go wrong with either. One more to consider is the http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-103-_-Product LED, 2ms and I think the screen on the asus is less glossy than the LG or samsung. Dont quote me on that though.
