I have no idea

Also, I made an order... entered my card details and then it told me it would have to go through the banks verification scheme... next thing I know it's confirmed without me doing anything and I have an order number. However, it doesn't appear in my account history and I haven't received an email confirmation.

I don't remember subbing to this thread....

Anyhow, good choice on the BW, I'm currently trying to decide between the BW and DAS Ultimate (if I can find it in stock).

But still, I swear I didn't sub to this thread

Good for you man. Some times you gotta ask "is the extra money spent gonna be change my life awesome?" I', cool cool with the black widow. Would like the back light but thats all I see as a benefit from more expensive models, at least personally anyway.
Enjoy yo.

It's the only mechanical keyboard I've owned and the only Razer product I've owned. I don't know much about the DAS, other than that is uses MX Browns instead of Blues like the Razer. I enjoy the blackwidow, for both typing and gaming.
Wrong, there are two Das Keyboards, one having browns (labeled Silent), one having blues. The build quality of the Das Keyboard with blues is considerably better than that of the Razer BlackWidow, and has NKRO over PS/2, and 6KRO on USB. To date I haven't found any wierd bugs with das keyboards. They're built well, and undoubtedly there is better, but at the price they're a good product.

I have a filco majestouch with black switches and used a black widow (which has Blue switches) at CES, and i gotta say, i would hate gaming on the blackwidow after using cherry MX blacks. although, it was MUCH nicer to type with the blue switches than the blacks.

one of the DAS models comes with browns that I have heard are a good compromise.
Yes, it's true. Browns are much better for gaming (not neccessarily the best, but are a good compromise between typing and gaming) and I berated Robert Krakoff on the decision to use blues; he said they evaluated browns next to blues and the test group preferred blues. I am sure the same test group didn't have problems with the "optimized key matrix" and probably thought it was a technological marvel. The downside of browns is they're slightly worse for typing, but are easier to press, no click, and seem to respond quicker to my pressing them.

If it does, you have no knowledge of proper keyboards. Basically, razers keys only roll over if they put the effort for them to rollover. Some keys don't roll over at all. It's actually a really bad keyboard. Typist keyboards are better for gaming than this piece of plastic.

That's unfortunate. You could always order a Filco instead!

If you type more than games, blues, if you game more than you type, browns. If you only game or the keyboard is only used for gaming, other key switches may be better but I don't have enough experience to say one way or the other, but well... I mean logically it makes sense that unless you're a 100wpm typist, blues wouldn't really be all that important because most people who are a mixture of both would demand more performance from their devices when gaming... at least this is the thought process that pushed me over the edge to buy another Das Keyboard, populated with brown switches.

The effect I got out of cherry browns was amazing, keys were easier to press, I could mreact quicker... I was better just by switching from blues to browns. I don't care all that much about typing, to be honest... I type a lot but as long as the keys are pleasant to use I am not that picky. When I'm gaming however, that's when I need the best from my gear. I always compromise gear wise on the side of gaming...

I wish this was true for all their stuff, but they make _some_ really good mice. My Razer Lachesis 5600K is the perfect fit. I can't speak too much on the sensor, it does what I want it to do but I can't vouch for it on a technical level... other than I haven't had any problems with it. The shape and the high sensitivity levels available is really good for me and has allowed me to game more comfortably and more naturally. Movements I'd expect to do this or that do this or that as expected. That's all I can ask from a mouse.

Here you go.
The biggest problem I have with the Razer BlackWidow, is that it's a terrible gamer's keyboard, which it is marketed as. The key rollover issues aren't so problematic for typing, and the wobbly key caps wouldn't affect a typist as much as a gamer. Acceptable for typing, but the rosewill mechy is better if I recall.

http://www.rosewill.com/products/1611/productDetail.htm

it says 6KRO over usb. I'd have to do further research to determine if that is entirely true or if it's an overly optimistic number.

Well, that would be because most of razer's customers don't care about quality. They're members of a cult, after all. What's more, they probably think the BlackWidow is the pinnacle of quality. I myself found these things wrong with it:

Key spacing is terribad, really uneven.
The key caps wobble (an issue acknowledge by razer and supposedly resolved)
The keyboard doesn't have synapse, which would have honestly made this keyboard twice as wesome.

And this is why razer is still in all the business areas they shouldn't be. People will blindly buy Razer's products because Razer says they are good, without even knowing that there is better and most times for less. Razer should stick to mice, something they're good at.

Not much of an issue then is it?

The Das has issues with keycap lettering wearing off. Not sure how the long term durability of the keycaps of either version of the Blackwidow will prove to be, but I haven't heard any issues yet.

Either way, it's all irrelevant when there are far better keyboards available for less.

Those keyboards are not neccessarily better, mind you. Just different. The Razer I think anybody with any experience with keyboards would agree is garbage, but I doubt that the unicomp boards would be as good for gaming.

Plus they sorta look like ass.

Also the Das Keyboard I'm recieving today was a mighty 70$, as was the last one I ordered. The one prior was only 100$. Maybe I'm better at getting a deal than others but the price of the Das Keyboard has clearly never been an issue for me.

Urhg, what is it with you yanks and half height return keys? They are horrible!

Anyway, you must understand that anything can beat the quality of this Logitech. Also, yes, the Das and Filco probably are built better... but guess what, they are between £30-£60 more expensive! I don't have any real knowledge of keyboards, nor am I particularly interested, I just wanted something a bitter harder wearing. Seems that scissor switches with rubber domes aren't the answer.

The Razer gets delivered on the 17th and from users, i've heard they are pretty pleased. I'm excited about macro keys
