Yup, this I know... but raising the BCLK too high won't damage the CPU itself.

"CPU Base Clock Since Intel choose to use just one clockgen on Sandy Bridge hardware (apparently due to the way the internal CPU ring bus memory controller needs to stay in sync - see What's New in Intel's Sandy Bridge (http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/cpu...ridge-review/2) for more on this), this value has a maximum adjustment of under 10MHz, or just 10 per cent. As such, much more acute 10KHz (0.1MHz) adjustments have been added by all major motherboard manufacturers to allow some changes.

Matched with voltage changes listed below, you should be able to increase the base clock to 105MHz on all CPUs, and we've found a few will go as far as 107MHz, if you go nuts with the voltages. While a Base Clock as high as 107.8MHz might unlock 2,300MHz memory speeds, the extra voltage (and motherboard stress) generally isn't worth it for an everyday overclock. The bottom line with the Base Clock is that generally you don't have to touch it."

"BCLK Base Clock - This is strictly a NO, anyone using base clock overclocking could/will cause damage to CPU/Mainboard. It may also kill other components. Set it manually to 100 as some boards auto set it slightly too high at 100.3. To put it simply if you value the life of your components, do not overclock using base clock"
EDIT; on the other hand ..it's your CPU and feel free to do it
in contrary i found that you can go beyond 5.2 by lowering Bclk to 99.8

I've been wanting to join this club for a while but cannot get it stable at 5ghz. I am on water and use a ud7 with a 2600k. I've turned all the "C" state options off, turbo off, and have set the XMP profile for my memory. Core volts I tried every increment from 1.5-1.63, and I still BSOD after 30 minutes or so between 1.55-1.63 no matter how high I raise the voltage, and even though temps are below 85 I don't want to push the volts any further. I've tried maxing out the LLC all the way to level 10 but still the same result. Any tips on how I can get it stable? Currently I have it at 4.8 with 1.48v and it is stable.

well first of all, put everything back on stock and just concentrate on your cpu overclock, ram and the rest come later. LLC is there to help compensate the vdrop, so turning it all the way to level 10 as you put wont do anthing other than spike the voltage.

Put it on stock settings and just change these values. run RAM on default timings and voltage.
Turn pll overvoltage to on, leave everything else on default including the safety features and set vcore to manual (1.45) and set multi by each core to 50.

Test with prime or IBT and return to increase vcore if and when you bsod.

EDIT: Disable Spread spectrum and check to see which level of llc works better for vdroop under load.

Try:
- ensure ram is running at rated speed/timings/voltage
- ensure BCLK is 100.0
- disable spread spectrum
- enable PLL overvoltage
- raise and lower CPU PLL voltage (down to 1.7V and up to 1.9V)
- raise VCCIO voltage (up to 1.2V)
- sell your chip and buy another (1.48V for 4.8GHz is kinda high, many including mine only need 1.35-1.375V for 4.8GHz)

How do I find the batch number of my processor. it says it on the box, but the format isn't anything like what you guys are posting.

Edit... time to submit

Overclock: 5007.7MHZ
Voltage: 1.448(CPU-Z) 1.270(BIOS)
Ram: G-Skill Ripjaws X 1600 9-9-9-28
Cooling: Swiftech Apogee GTZ (Water)
Batch Number: 3101A104 (Costa Rica)

I need to tweak a little more to get to 5.0ghz with ht on. Right now I am having some trouble with temps going out of my comfort zone with ht on, even at like 4.8ghz. I have a feeling that I need to clean my waterblock or let my thermal paste set... I reapplied my waterblock after adding a vidcard block to my loop.

Just putting this out there.
I believe I killed my 2500k running at ~1.53v for 2 weeks, pretty much under a constant load.
The only other voltage that was ran out of spec was vdimm, was running it at ~1.62v.
So be careful out there.
