I think I am going to throw in the towell. At 3.4-3.8 I am at 30 idle temp and 68-75 load temp.

I tried ignoring the 90+ temps while at 5.0ghz and at 1.505v I had no errors on test 1, but about 45 minutes into it my cpu-z gradually showed a decline in clock speed from 5.00 gradually moving down to 4.6?

What setting would be causing that to happen?

I set up my bios like this post suggested:

Quote:
enable all of this and report back
C1E = ON
EIST = ON
C3 & C6 = ON
All other setting are fine ,
AI OVERCLOCK TUNER = MANUAL
BCLK/PEG FREQUENCY = 100
TURBO RATIO = BY PER CORE (CANNOT ADJUST IN OS)
CORE 1-4 = 50
INTERNAL PLL VOLTAGE = ENABLED
MEMORY FREQUENCY = DDR3 1600mhz
EPU POWER SAVING MODE = DISABLED
LOAD LINE CALIBRATION = ULTRA HIGH
VRM FREQUENCY = MANUAL
VRM FIXED FREQUENCY MODE = 350
PHASE CONTROL = EXTREME
DUTY CONTROL = EXTREME
CPU CURRENT CAPABILITY = 100%
CPU VOLTAGE = MANUAL MODE
CPU MANUAL VOLTAGE = 1.500 <---- I changed this and modified it in AI Tuner through o/s. Started at 1.376 then I couldn't run stable until I hit 1.505vDRAM VOLTAGE = 1.500 <----Mine is 1.65v which is factory spec.
phase control and duty...it's your call
PHASE CONTROL = EXTREME
DUTY CONTROL = EXTREME
I'm on standard ..no problem (you should't need 1.5 Vcore for 5.0)
if you still have problems run your RAM at stock 1333 you can also bump your Dram to 1.55 or 1.6
EDIT: HT Enabled

I would recommend changing CPU Vcore through the BIOS...not AI Suite....I tried using AI Suite 2 and played with it...its utter crap if you ask me...absolutely atrocious

Thats why I didnt know what he was talking about.
I cannot view Gigabytes site from work because its a .tw site. We have VERY strict filters at work.

UPDATE: im getting 101 errors now (more vcore) so ive been upping it and so far im at 1.47v in the BIOS and im testing now. That seems kinda high for 4.8gig but IDK

don't sweat it...check out the first page for the listings of everybody's clock and vcore...you will see that many are running upper 1.4's to low 1.5's to get it stable...you're at 4.8 which is 0.2 slower than 5.0...which is what this club is all about...but target vcore should be very similar

just make sure you get adequte cooling if temps go above 85C...also make sure to run blend for 1 hour as well....small FFT gets the CPU real hot...blend doesn't get as hot but will guarantee stability if you pass

Im up to 1.47v and its still not stable on blend at 4.8
My cooling isnt an issue. Currently my temps dont get over 61c
I was able to blend for atleast 30-40 minutes last night before it BSOD'ed to a 101 error. Ill do more testing tonight and might say the heck with it and try 5.0
If I cannot get 4.8 or 5.0 stable tonight im going to drop back to 4.5 where I was rock stable with low voltage.

nice 61C is very cold

shoot for 1.5 vcore and go at it again....if not, shoot 1.51, 1.52, etc

its alot of vcore, thats for sure...but you have a really cold temp as well (must be the water)....you shouldn't blow up anything just by adding slightly more vcore

i felt like pushing the limits on my 2500k...and tried 51x100...with a vcore of 1.525...it went into windows no problem but failed blend within minutes...I up the vcore to 1.55, and the main splash screen kept beeping and it said I'm running too much voltage....so I'm guessing 1.525-1.535 ish is my max allowed vcore by my motherboard....

i would say, IF NECESSARY, push the vcore further until your mobo/windows stops you...i'm not sure if gigabyte will do such a thing...but I know my asus did

You shouldn't disable throttling if you're just doing basic OC's like those. Clock it down to 4.9 GHz and get that stable instead.

Im looking for a 24/7 OC and not a suicide run though. I dont want to be running 1.5v 24/7 even if the temps are great.
I only had to push 1.32v at 4.5gig so I might just stick with that.

The cold temps are great indeed, Even with small ffts im only hitting 65-67ish

Also while im asking some questions, anyone know why my voltage tanks when I enable a load? I have line load enabled and pll overvolt enabled.
If I set it to 1.47v in the BIOS CPUz reports 1.46v at idle and about 1.32v at load.
