Athlon II Quad and 6850 low fps, help!

Thread Starter
Why am I getting 25 and below FPS on WoW Ultra settings with my Athlon II x4 630 OC to 3.3 and my Gigabyte 6850 ?

And My 6850 is showing DirectX 10 not DX11.

Offtopic:
I have both of my F4 320GB is RAID 0 and the performance is AMAZING!

The Sunbeam Rheobus works fine too. I control all 6 pc fans with it. Although I could do without the ugly red LED. If I could get Blue/green LED I'd be happy.
The R4 sickleflow 120mm casefans from Coolermaster are BOSS! Quiet for a 2k Case fan and move a LOT of air. And the Destroyer Mid tower case has been holding up just fine, there is room for cable management, you just have to be creative and nifty and have a LOT of zip ties and patience.

update your 6850 drivers from gigabyte or amd site (preferably gigabyte)
set your ram timings in BIOS (e.g. 7-7-7-21 or 8-8-8-25) if its DDR3 1333\\1600 Mhz
OC your north bridge a little (2.2-2.4)
format pc and test for stability with prime , memtest and some GPU benchies

WoW on ultra should fly as hight as 60+ FPS

I fixed it. Turns out it was the drivers. They were messing with its performance. I uninstalled the drivers and CCC, used Driver Sweep to make doubley bubbley all traces of 10.12 were gone. Used the Driver CD that came with, been running WoW at a stable 60. sometimes dipping down to 56/57 in a populated town.

EDIT:
I am using 10.10 Drivers at the moment.

3.3 isn't enough for that 6850 to expand its wings. OC it more and I'll bet it fixes your issues. Bottleneck I foresee

Oh and disable shadows... that's the biggest FPS killer most of the time
post #5 of 12
CPU bottleneck once you play those CPU dependent games...
Overclock to at least 3.5.-3.7GHz on that 630

I used to have that exact CPU and I still have my 5870.

Well this is my First time Overclocking. I got to 3.3 on my first couple of hours fiddilng with RAM timings, FSB, and HTT. I want to hit 3.5. I have REALLY good airflow and a Push/pull 212+ so heat isn't an issue. I Just have a budget gaming MoBo. A880G+. I don't intend on upgrading that mobo any time soon either or at least until Bulldozer hits the scene.

3.3 is fine. Obviously overclocking it will yield better performance, but that is NOT a bottleneck. People need to shut up with that term.
