[MW] AMD problems not over. - Page 5

I hate how all these companies are focusing on mobile garbage. Just haul out more powerful x86 desktop processors please. I refuse to partake in this casual hipster-douche emo Brofest incest-rape hip-hop crap ding dong trendy technology. God damn people and their wrong tastes.

The majority of the money is in the mobile sector, add in the fact that if you can make a fast CPU/GPU/APU that uses under 10w (Or even 1w for smartphones), then its easy to make that use up to 130w for the desktops, so improvements come to us anyway.

i think tablets like that is a great idea and should remain in power!
On screen keyboards are pointless unless you can use it with one hand (like a smartphone). No on is going to sit down and Swype their way through a term paper with one hand holding the device and the other hand typing. Small, thin, powerful laptops is what companies should be focusing on. If you want a mobile device for casual browsing, get a 4 - 4.5in smartphone.

I don't think ipads or mobile markets or app stores or anything is the problem here. I think Intel is doing ok because it's defrauding people all over asia and US.
They keep posting 6.5 billion and 7 billion and 8 billion of sales in pacific-asia but thier biggest partner out there keeps getting hit for fraud.

http://teledataesys.wordpress.com/
"4 The balance sheet will be very interesting to read as Vikas Goel and Padmanadan will do their best to hide the facts but with all esys on this year balance sheet of Teledata it will be proven once for all that Teledata is a fake paper company like Esys of Vikas Goel."

So it just goes to show intel is too big to post real results and is likely just trying to suck in enough stock holders to wipe them as the unsecured creditors that the stock market makes common shareholders. AMD is simply not good enough at fraud to compete with this.
They should probably go cruise prisons for con artists.

Frankly AMD (besides undercutting Intel and NVIDIA on pricing) has no true "ace in hole" product that can promote long term growth and profit. That is the inherent problem.

Plus, NVIDIA + ARM = biggest shift in the tech landscape in a long, long time... it takes Intel's monopoly completely away with no legal ramifications, especially if Microsoft is willing to support ARM.
This is true that the tablet is here to stay, as much as it hurts to say it because I hate those things. Even if they are destined to die off, we have to remember that they are electronics. All companies have to do is toss in a couple of new features and change the name and the community has a new fad to craze about. Just look at LCD tvs. We have been robbed of mass manufactured OLED goodness for a few years because companies are milking their cash cows by tossing new features and specs in LCD/LED.

As I see it, an ace in the hole is a gift due to timing and having something that is fashionable at the time. We cannot blame anyone for not possessing one, while I am sure they all would like one for times like these.

What I see is really bad timing in that they sold tech that is now taking off. Like the article stated though, who knows if any of those things would actually been worked on and in use today if they had kept them.

The Nvidia + ARM smart phones will hurt AMD the most. Mostly because they are not yet into smartphones (that I know of anyway). I guess they cannot take away from what AMD is not a part of, but regardless there will be many, many smart phones sold this year. Many of those will have Nvidia inside them.

I wonder how much this announcement will affect things. Hopefully someone at AMD makes a good response to this tomorrow.

They can't seem to get it right though.

-There's always too much glossy plastic
-There's a lot of chiclet keyboards that feel mushy OR chiclet keyboards with huge keys that make it hard to type accurately OR "flexy" keyboards
-Crappy LCD quality
-In some cases, too small of a battery
-Sometimes heat is not properly addressed
-Crappy trackpads (Too small and/or unresponsive)

I don't know of a single netbook or ultraportable that doesn't have any of these problems.

HOLY FLYING CARP, I didn't realize they were that out of touch and selling key assets that they didn't think were assets only to pine for it later... Damn! Selling mobile chip design and tv chips. There's two areas they could have made easy money in...

Why focus on mobile? MONEY!!!! Apple has made a bunk load of money off of the iPad / iPhone. Just because you have an inordinate amount of dislike for mobile devices, there are millions of people who do find value in their existence. SO that raises the question: who has the wrong tastes: You or millions of others?

This. AMD really threw the baby out with the bath water. "I know lets sell off our mobile division! No one wants a mobile computer. Hey who watches TV anymore! SELL SELL SELL"

IMO they ousted him also due to the slipping Bulldozer release date. Now for the next 6 months AMD is completely non competitive in the desktop market. They NEEDED to release BD at the end of 2010.
