That means nothing, since AMD has had a number of share splits over the years, with their goal of keeping their shares around the $9-12 mark; while Apple hasn't split their shares at all.

The stock market is not a very good indicator of "corporate health". Look at the donkeys they prop up, while thrashing companies that are actually innovative and profitable. In fact, turning a profit can lead to stocks taking a dive - this happens all of the time.

Some dude leaving AMD - who knows what the real story is. I don't think anyone is being chopped over tablets. The tablet market is small, and it is "hot" only because Apple commands crazy, unreasonable prices for their underperforming, inadequate garbage - and the fact stands that you still can't buy a tablet in all of the locations that you can buy a regular computer. Once supplies come up, and prices dive - tablets will be just another thing, and the corporates won't be fixated.

Besides, the lack of adequate processors for smartphones, tablets and netbooks has not hurt Intel one iota - they are still raking in the profits they score by charging $1000 for slight reheats of inferior processors, and peddling their endless array of vapour that will never come onto the market. The stock market loves vapour and hype, and they could care less if the product is actually good or usable. Just like they swallow up all of the promises that GM will somehow miraculously come out with vehicles that people will buy without the massive $5000 incentives.

You realize that is a one day chart, right? Showing a 30 cent spread?

Fab or not fab, its still a selling market.

Even if its going to be gone in 2-3 years, it still means a few millions of tablets being sold.
If the even sold 500,000 pieces with AMD chips in them, they could have gotten a good revenue from it.
But instead they got nothing.

Its the same in every passing fashion gadget. The first to pull the trigger, make the most money. The ones late to the part, earn very little, if any.
