[ZD]Worlds First Electric Supercar Goes Into Production - Page 5

Meh, too much OT. This was about a new Electric Supercar - no one really wants to listen to your dribble about whether cars are fun or not

Thread Starter
Alright then. Since you're unsatisfied, take your family and go live in your bunker bubble away from all the dangerous things instead of trolling this thread.

Problem solved.

edit:
And your original post was about enjoying and the quality of life. A counterargument about something being fun relates directly to enjoying life. Not having a job relates to enjoying life. Having a hobby as big as what relates to cars directly relates to enjoying life. Being able to vacation our current way relates to enjoying life. Nothing I said is invalid, as "enjoying life" was what your original troll post was about.

Everything kills people when accidents happen. That doesn't mean we should ban everything. I'm done feeding the troll though. Take it to OT.

What's a valid point however is that cars are relatively dangerous. It's not like people that get hurt from them had choice. So, on the ethical part, cars are doing a bad job.

Now, if one of your argument that cars are good because it maintain jobs, than you should understand something about economics. Our goal as a society is to increase our quality of life. Jobs aren't the goal, the goal is what is produced from these jobs. If you can provide the same quality of transportation system with less people, thus destroying jobs, you can use the extra people to produce extra goods and services that wouldn't have been possible without the innovations making delivering a similar services or product using less people. As funny as it sounds, destroying jobs is somewhat what we should be aiming for.
Cars aren't dangerous, stupid people are.

So things that suck is that cars and the infrastructure they require takes and a lot of place, which increase distances between where people lives and where they have to go, which require even more cars and infrastructure to people can go from one place to another fast.
We had roads long before cars. And cities are still much, more more buildings than roads.

So you live close to nature. How much more quality of life can you have when you can watch wolves eating and killing stuff while you eat your breakfast.

My ideal life sure does not include watching animals kill each other out of my windows. And I don't want to live in a some place with really high population. I can't even handle the cities around here, what you are proposing is some retarded version of Tokyo without any cars. Which to me sounds like a terrible, terrible hellhole.

If our societies remove cars from our lives, we'll have a way better quality of life.
everything would have to be really close together. people dont wanna get off their lazy asses and walk. electric cars will probably become a thing, it'll just take a long ass time for it to happen.

"Ultra cars" are actually called Hypercars. These would be your Zonda Rs and such.
/corrections

Anyway, I'm not a particular fan of electric cars. I'm all for innovation and new tech, but I wouldn't want a "supercar" that was electric.
A supercar is all about the experience of driving it: the loud noise, the rumble, perfecting your shifting, bragging about your displacement.
You just can't enjoy any of that with an electric car.

Although these jokers aren't first either. Mercedes is currently producing an all-electric SLS.

Actually, they're not producing it as of yet. No official announcement that it will see production has ever been made.

Meh, 170 isn't a benchmark for a supercar... My Volvo S60R can do 170 if I remove the speed limiter, but 800 bucks is a lot to reprogram my ecu. Not like I'd have anywhere to go that fast anyway. =p Besides, that tune would also remove the torque limiter, and add about 50whp, iirc. It'll go even faster than 170! =)

I think a supercar is a car that's so extravagant, so light, nimble, and quick (and overpriced) that it defies all common definitions of a standard "car". Having the motor in the rear helps to define a supercar, though, many electrics have motors on each wheel. Not sure where that falls... hehe.

Right on the money. 0-60 in 3.4 seconds is supercar status too, that's about how fast an Enzo does it. It probably only tops out at 170 so the car doesn't try and fly off the road.

From what I remember it wasnt exactly viable, Top Gear basically said that you need two to make it practical because it takes so long to fully charge, and runs out of juice fairly quickly.
