Is this good enough??

post #1 of 2
Thread Starter
I'm putting a new system together including:

I5-2500k (hopefully oc'ing it to near 5.0ghz rates)
8gb PNY DDR 3 Ram

1 650gb Seagate sata HD

1 Blu-Ray Burner

Multiple USB devices (1 or 2 external hard drives, charging iphone, wireless kb/mouse)

1 Radeon HD 6950 -> 6970 (unlocked)

Cooler Master 690 II Advanced case with stock fans + 3 or 4 (depending on how many I can steal from my old Antec Nine Hundred).

I'm currently rolling with the Antec Truepower II 550w EPS PSU from back in the day. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817103932

Do you guys think that it will be good enough to run ok with the above parts overclocked? I will probably put the 6950 at 6970 clock speeds and leave it be. The SB is getting overclocked though. I'm on a budget and would like to avoid upgrading the PSU until I get another card for crossfire, if possible.

If you guys do not recommend holding on to this PSU, do you have any recommendations? I've read numerous posts, reviews, opinions...etc...but it's been difficult trying to find a solid PSU that can accommodate SLI or XFire on mid-high end parts for now in the future and is under $100.

it should be enough for stock but if you plan on OCing like you say to 5GHz, I'd recommend this
