[Joystiq]Marvel vs Capcom 3 retail listing shows Akuma - Page 3

I play a lot of fighting games and i gotta agree with with OC'ning noob.

If they want to add new characters, they need to test them 1st then release them in either a revision title, or a sequal... DLC for characters in a fighting game? are you joking???

I am not getting this game. DLC for characters is a fail. It was already a fail to charge extra for alternate costumes in SF4.

CAPCOM = CRAPCOM.

If gamers still complain about being expensive then it really is their own personal problem since you had enough money to buy the game in the first place.
But the majority of mvc players would be children, teens, youths, so they have not a job. It is the parents who pay and they dont care about video games anyway.

That means more hassle for the parents. I doubt they would give credit card details for that stuff

Well I guess there's pros and cons to dlc models. Like for example free to play league of legends is completely free in that you can get characters by saving up points earned from matches. However, they also offer the user to pay for the character of they don't feel like saving up points. Maybe if game companies started taking this approach it'd be a lot more profitable.

No no no no no no...

We DO NOT need the F2P model for everything... If you haven't seen it being abused badly, let me point you to an example. Go and google "Evony"...

Seriously, imagine Activision with a F2P model...

You are comparing apples to oranges. League of Legends is NOT a fighting game. It is more along the lines of singular coop RTS. Fighting games are like Street Fighter, MVC, or Tekken. Assuming you can still play against someone who has new characters, it exposes two damning issues:

- The characters are already in the game itself and Crapcom is just being a douche and making you pay for something that is already in the game. If you are wondering, yes this has happened before; google RE Versus Mode.
- Disrupts the entire balance and fairness of the game, because you have people who have characters that you do not have access to.

If you cannot play against other people who have purchased additional characters, that is bad too because it shrinks the pool of competition. How would you like it if you had to play against less and less people or are unable to play the characters you bought, because other people do not buy them?

Don't get me wrong though. I like the concept of DLC. It helps extends the playability of games beyond the original scope. The problem is, DLC does not work for all games. For something like FPS or RPG games, DLC is totally fine because it does not disturb balances, simply extends the playability. For fighting games, this is something totally different. Now if this was Valve, I would be a bit more forgiving since A) it would be free and B) Valve has a good track record with the gaming community, while recent history shows Crapcom to be nothing more than a soulless bastard of a company milks past franchises until there is nothing left to offer and then proceeds to dry hump their customers for every last penny. Hopefully, one day consumers will wake up and finally see the light and close their wallets to these horrible decisions by Crapcom and others of their ilk.

I like playing fighting games here and there but im by no means very skilled at it, I had a friend in California that took everyone of those games to a science and did very well at every competition he ever got pushed into lol.

Whats going through my mind is if they add more characters through DLC then so what? Im sure these characters arent simply an idea they had one night and decided to throw them in for kicks. Capcom has been around for quite some time to know they have casual and hardcore players and that they have to satisfy both.

To be honest I would rather have a DLC that I can choose to buy of my own accord that would only cost me the DLC and not the msrp of another game. This move seems a better option for everyone, cheaper on capcom and cheaper for the players.

I cant help but think of Street Fighter II and all of its revisions when people complain about this DLC. Though it would make sense if they had the same Multiplayer set up as Fable III and you both had to have Identical DLC, that would ruin it all, hands down.

Yeah! I've been waiting for this for ages, especially since tusunoko vs capcom was a let down on the wii.
