Yes, but not by as much as you'd think.

Yes, you'll see an improvement. I overclocked my 955 to 3.73GHz over the stock 3.2 and I saw my GTX 460's usage go up to 100%. They were fairly substantial increases. I can only imagine how a 3GHz Phenom is bottlenecking a GTX 580... Just overclock it some more and you'll be fine.

The highest the 940 can achieve on air is around 3.6-3.7GHz. But at that speed, there's no worry about bottlenecking.

Who said hes on air lol JK... 4ghz on everything!!!!!

Edit: and yes Gaming bottleneck is almost non existent at 3.5 but still there slightly... More noticeably in games that demand CPU.

Seriously, just get something like a Hyper 212+ for that CPU and push it to 3.6GHz and set the Vcore to 1.45. It's just that simple. You'll see a HUGE improvement from any bottlenecking you might be having.

One person got to 4GHz with the 940 and he was under LN2. The chip has a serious limitation for overclocking but goes to 3.6 like it's nothing.

Alright thanks for the input guys, looks like I better read up on OCing. I do have a zalman 9900 cooler on my chip now, think that will do the trick?
