[DON] AMD Bulldozer 8-Core CPU 50% Faster Than Core i7 950 - Page 7

EXACTLY!

I see this argument in threads regarding Nvidia's flagship card and AMD's dual-gpu flagship. The fact that AMD is using a dual-gpu solution is completely irrelevant. It's not "cheating" and it's not "unfair" to compare the two because they are competing in the exact same market. The most important pieces of information are cost, performance and power draw.

It doesn't matter to consumers what is happening behind the curtain so long as it produces the desired results.

I found an interesting benchmark that is claimed to be the server part of bulldozer arch. Then right after the post was made it was removed and said that there was a NDA in place. Plus it did wprime 1024m prime in 44 seconds, that's mind blowingly fast. Even if it is a octomodule that was hardware hyperthreading like bulldozer is supposed to like the cpu-z is showing for 16 threads. Amd 955 does 1024 in about 310 seconds, this is much faster by around 7.5 and at only 3ghz.
So I estimate the the quad core version would be able to complete 1024 in 175 seconds, still much faster clock for clock then even the amd 955 I have overclocked to 3.8ghz.
So this would mean that the estimated 50% speed increase from previous amd proccessors would be nearly right on the mark. Rejoice, amd you have become our savior!

It's got 4 modules for 8 cores in Windows, but it has two dies under the CPU (Socket G34) for 16 cores total.

If that's real...Wow, I am definitely staying on my Phenom II a tad longer.

I zoomed into the picture to see if I could find any inconsistancies, with the picture itself and then the cpu-z portion to look for wors that were added to show it was forged. But all the pixels look the same as do the lettering and words. I especially looked at the enmgineering sample wording and it looks legit. If you look in the instructions it has AVX which is supposed to be in bulldozer. AMD should quit F*ing themselves and release the benchmarks and get the hype up. But I suppose they are scared of another TLB error in the chips.

IF it's true can someone sensible (LOL) with an i7, preferably a 980x run wprime for us at 3GHZ please? Just as a comparison. Frankly I find it very hard to believe, it would put it as a single cpu in 5th place in the world against multi cpu setups.

Considering the amount of cores is a tad higher per chip and in most cases, the clock speed is a tad higher...With the performance incrementation we've heard about, I don't think we should rule it out to be honest.

No, follow the link, "1. 39sec 839ms pro Intel 2x Xeon X5680 @ 5374.3MHz »". Thats 16 core BD vs 12 core/24 thread Xeon with 2300mhz overclock advantage!?

If bulldozer is a beast as that leak suggests then why are they being so quiet about it? I know for a fact AMD lost a good chunk of potential customers to sandy bridge and if AMD showed the goods (CES would have been a PERFECT time) many of them would have waited for bulldozer.

Considering that its is reported to be 50% faster than the i7 950, HT is inefficient and probably would barely better a 16 core Phenom II in this clock for clock...This isn't that unrealistic.
