Alright, I really hate to post this because it's not really interesting and stimulating material but I am having a hard time finding the info I need so maybe someone can point me in the right direction.

I have to do a project for a networks class where I explain the difference between things like dial up, dsl, cable, fiber-to-home in terms of network architecture, performance, and components. A simple google answer isn't detailed enough for the scope of the class. The performance and component parts are straight forward enough.

I found a pretty informative diagram showing the "flow" of general DSL, listing the different components involved which is great info.

Now, I understand the basic differences between dial up and DSL, but I haven't found enough to really draw the differences with respect to that diagram. Meaning, what is actually different about the "flow" of dial-up compared to DSL? I already know the superficial differences between dial up and dsl, like why you can't talk on the phone when actively using dial up, why you can using DSL, etc. I guess I need some information about the architectural differences.

I appreciate any information given, and I don't expect much, since again this is rather boring stuff. And sorry if such information is pinned somewhere, but I read through the guide(s) and didn't find exactly what I was looking for.
