Does this sound like drivers, or the card?

Thread Starter
Just got this system up and running (specs below), and it's the first time I've used 266.35 at all. All components of the system save for the CPU and motherboard had been used prior. The card is stock.

Twice now I've gotten a random black screen, once in game (MW2), one on the desktop. The system doesn't crash or lock. Video comes back, even in the case of MW2, just a few seconds later.

I've gone back to the 265.90s, and haven't experienced it since, though I haven't tested more than a couple hours, and I had a couple hours worth of L4D2 with the 266s without issue.

I'm thinking drivers, but does anyone else have any other ideas or anything I could check?

Sounds like driver crash/reset. It's probably the drivers, they are still beta. Just stick with the ones you have now then if they are stable tongue.gif

It sounds like the drivers. If you want to check the card, you could run OCCT for 30 mins. If anything is going to go wrong that will tell you.

Still doing it. I've never had an issue with the card, so I'm guessing it's the motherboard, updated the BIOS, I dunno.

i had the same problem with beta driver and so i went back to official driver and problem is gone.

I'll be trying that if it does it again. I'm technically on a WHQL, it's the Quadro driver so it may as well be a beta.

Just by fiddling with the cable on one of the DVI ports I was able to get it to do it 3 or 4 times. Maybe a bad DVI port or cable, I can't remember ever using the inside port, I dunno. All I can do is wait and see if it does it again.
