P8P67 Deluxe auto-overclocking past 4.3ghz ? normal ?

It's 2am, I just powered up my new i5-2500k system for the first time and am still downloading all the windows updates and installing drivers, but when I checked the "my computer" properties page (where your windows score normally is), it said the cpu was running at 5.8ghz ?!?!
On the initial post, I popped in my thumbdrive and installed the 1053 beta bios, left everything on auto or performance, and tossed in the windows 7 dvd...
CPU-Z isn't reporting anything as high as 5.8ghz, but at 4.326ghz, it's still humming along pretty nicely.

Updating the bios is highly recommended, when it first posted, the board only recognized 4gb of ram, after the update it restarted and recognized all 4 dimms at 1600mhz and the rated timing 8-8-8-24. CPU-Z's giving me some totally different numbers for ram speed than what the bios was showing 'tho.

Sorry for the rambling, I really need some sleep.

Without changing anything other than the "normal" to "performance" setting I got a 4.2GHz OC. I am only running the stock HSF (waiting for mounting kit for my TRUE)

I had the same issue but it was like 3.9ghz after I flashed it turned on the OC mode for the BIOS, I had to manually go in the bios and turn it off.

One thing about auto overclocking... It might give you a 4.2-4.6 OC. BUT IT OVERCLOCKS THE BCLK <---- THAT'S A NO GO. Alright back to normal mode.. If you decide to keep your Overclock, try lowering the BCLK back to 100, and tweaking the voltages, they're most likely too high.

Other than that, you don't need autoOC at all. all you need to do is tweak the volts to 1.25, LCC to high and Phases to extreme and you can most likely hit 4.4 without modding anything else.

And yes, Windows says my 2600K is running @ 5.9 (lol)

I ended up with this conclusion after 6 tries of Auto-Tune/Auto-OC.

I'm hitting 50-52C on each core running Prime95 (case fans on low) sits pretty stable there @4.3ghz and 1.24v
The Zalman CNPS9900 Max isn't as impressive as the initial reviews made it out to be, but the bloody Asus utility software doesn't want to run under Windows 7 Pro 64bit (kernelbase.dll error), which includes the fan management software. Games and all the usual software packages seem to work fine 'tho, really snappy.
I'm hoping they release some more software and bios updates in the very near future.

I did drop the BCLK back down to 100, windows is nice and stable but there are some weird intermittent bugs on that pop up while rebooting or tinkering in the bios.

Thanks for the replies.

I followed some advice from the P8P67 Pro thread regarding the cold boot lock-ups and cleared the CMOS. That seems to have cleared everything up quite nicely. It's rock solid at 43x, 100bclk, and everything else at stock/auto.

Enough tinkering for now, back to playing games.
