Hi.

I recently built my first pc, the core temps seem a little high and its driving me mad, i have reapplied thermal paste twice and reseated the cooler using arctic 5, added 2 fans to my case and it has only dropped temps by about 2-3 C.

temps are sitting at 41 38 41 39
with max load they get to mid 70s.

Build is.
Rampage Extreme 3 Mobo
i7 960 3.2 G (stock)
Thermaltake Spin q vt
12 gb crosair
sli gtx 470s

losing my mind over this would really appreciate any help that anyone could give.

I think you could be putting too much thermal paste on, what method are you using.

How's ambient temps? How is case airflow? Is your mobo automatically doing anything to your voltage? What fans are you using?

Need more information.

Thanx for the quick response guys, i put the thermal paste on using the dot method i tried to use as little as possible but definitely worth looking at again i guess. The ambient temps are pretty bad at times been in Australia about 24 to 27 C, this has been a thought i have but i am new to this so not 100% on anything i think lol . Voltage is normally about 0.94 once again not very up too speed on my knowledge base but i have noticed it moves around abit sometimes as high as 1.2. The case is a thermaltake Armour Just put two Scythe 120mm Kaze fans in the case one at back one in front, have a 200mm on the side, 120mm on the bottom and another 120mm one the front so im sure that cant b the issue. i think i done a neat job of cables and install. i can post pics if needed. thanks for the help
