Power consumption - pre-upgrade

Thread Starter
This is a relatively simple question.

I was just wondering if anyone could tell me if my 480w PSU will be able to handle this:
http://www.dabs.com/products/asus-am...ory--70ZM.html

...aswell as my 9800GT?

Note:
My 9800GT is the green edition and uses less power.

I don't wanna blow up my new 'puter on first boot. :s

Cheers in advance.

Hey.
It's just a generic "gaming psu" I bought a year or so ago.
A no-name brand type.
Wasn't the cheapest out there at the time but wasn't the most expensive either.
If that helps at all.
I can't give you the finer details of it without tearing my case apart unfortunately.

Just had a look, its apparently called a GTX Light 480w.
Was informed by the store assistant at the time that it was a half decent PSU.

I would get a new PSU. At best the GTX Light 480w it is a 300w.
Here is the info on it for the other OCN members to help this member out.

Oh, so it wouldn't handle it then?
Or it would but it'd be risky?

Thanks for the help.

It will be risky at stock speed and I would replace that PSU ASAP.

It would power on. But I wouldn't do much more then install the OS. No overclocking, no additions, etc. Walking a thin line here

Thanks for the info.
I wasn't planning on overclocking the system anytime soon, not until I had replaced the PSU.
So hopefully the inherent danger isn't there if I'm running at stock right?
