[LR] Firefox 4.0 Beta 9 Released - Page 5

I'm running Firefox 4.0 Beta 10, mainly for the native x86-64 support.

Beta 8 and 9 were buggy as hell, crashed every five seconds, but beta 10 is a lot more stable. Easily comparable with a stable build. Hasn't crashed much at all. I guess Mozilla fixed the browser for my hardware after all the error reports I sent.

Lamest argument ever. Who cares if it takes 2 seconds longer to start. It's how awesome the browsing experience is afterwards that counts. And no other browser can compete with Firefox.

Opera is the next best browser, Chrome is great but lacks a lot of stuff you take for granted (like RSS reader).

Firefox loads slow the first time you open it after a reboot, but after that it is near instant just like the other browsers. I never understood the whole "this browser is so much faster" thing anyway. They are all within acceptable speeds on loading up pages and the browser itself. The features are what make the browser when the speeds are so close that it takes a benchmark to tell the difference. At least for me, features are where it is at and Firefox wins in that department.

This.

And Chrome really slows down for me, when I install extensions.

I did load 1 by 1. You can see the difference. Then I did some simultaneous loads using windows key + 2 and 3 at the same time. I then showed you that chrome is running more extensions than firefox.

This is firefox 4 beta 9. I didn't even show canary build because Firefox users would be more embarrassed.

Sorry about the sound. I didn't know it was recording that. My gf was playing l4d2.

I'm really loving tabcandy or whatever they call it in the new releases. Firefox takes about 3 seconds to start up to usable state even though in the tabcandy window I have 70-90 tabs open.

FF 4.0 B9 seems to have taken care of the high memory issue, from B8 to B9 ram usage dropped from 750 mb to 515 mb. Kinda high but reasonable for the amount of tabs I switch between and how snappy Firefox is when I try to switch to a tab that I haven't opened in the current instance.

I kinda open tabs as "read later", which is why I have so many open, I don't knhow why but I just don't like bookmarks.

Try Pale Moon then, it's a hell of a lot faster than Chrome is for me right now.

Checked your video 3 times, and I still dont see that much of a difference. Im fairly confused on how people complains and whines about how FF loads a couple seconds slower.

Fortunately for me, a couple seconds of load times doesnt mean anything.

I hope the Firefox developers used an unsigned long integer for their Beta version variable - it looks like they will need it...

I don't understand you. Your a linux guy, so why are you using a Windows optimized version of firefox? Shouldn't you be using swiftfox? Palemoon isn't that great anyway. I used it when I was into firefox and didn't see that much of difference. If anything Firefox 4 is much better. You don't have to look at the ugly firefox 3.6 gui either.

Did you see the amount of plugins chrome was loading opposed to Firefox?

I have 7 plugins for firefox, close to what you showed for Chrome. I then added a couple plugins for Chrome canary that I have to have the equal number of plugins.

Tested them both, and I dont see much of a difference between both. Firefox seems to be slighlty slower in loading, but it sure isnt much to say Chrome is the fastest as I dont see any difference when loading websites after Firefox and Chrome are open.

The only time Firefox seems to load faster for me is when I open +10-20 tabs (which I require). Also a couple Japanese websites I have to use are filled with a lot of ads and such, so Adblock and noscript are extremely useful. If Chrome's version can be on par with FF, I may change to Chrome as it doesnt block all of them.
