Need multifunction printer refillable

Thread Starter
I need to buy an inkjet printer easy to refill (aka: injecting ink or having cheap 3rd party compatible cartridges). Must be multifunction with FAX.
I googled for some models already but can not find anything up to date, all of them were printers not sold at your local Office depot, Office max, wallmart, or bestbuy anymore. I have to get this for tomorrow, it is for a customer.
Do any of you know of a printer sold today at any of these stores, easy to refill, ideally with the transparent cartridges so you can see what is going on..

Thanks a lot.

Uhhh just walk into any Office Depot or Office Max,
stop looking onloine and ask at the stores theselves. It's where I got my cheap lexmark with fax for like $50.

And you spend how much... 60+ bucks each time you replace the ink cartridges?
The guys at the stores don't know anything, they will just sell you whatever crap they have in stock.
My question is about someone with experience REFILLING cartridges on a printer currently being sold at the stores, not about getting a cheap printer. Read again.

Thanks

A lot of printers have refill "kits". I've tried a few, they work fine, but a lot of people have trouble with the cartridges leaking into their printer.

Ok let me use what little printer knowledge I have.

Is this a heavy duty printing site? Or are we talking 50-100 5% pages per month?(light duty)

If they are willing to refill them, the only transperant cartridges I'm aware of are epsons, and some canons. You can always refill non-transparent cartridges using predetermined ink levels. I'll see if I can dig up some refill kits.

This is light duty printing... just want to save money when replacing the cartridges.
I have looked at the Canon pixma mx340 which is almost on every store.. i saw there are refill kits on ebay, but also read that users reported having problems resetting the ink levels, so incoming faxes would not print because of this.
Do they eventually hack the chips on every cartridge or is it like playing the lottery?

Inkjet multi-function printers suck at 4 things instead of just one. I'm never going to buy an inkjet again, forget about a multi-function.

With ANY inkjet, you'll spend more on ink than the printer within a month or two if you're regularly printing. "Cheap" printers hide the cost in ink hunger and printing even slower. IME. With inkjets, the ink can expire if not used often enough, and if you don't replace, can cause damage to the printer head.

I would search for refillable ink cataridges then go from there by finding a compatible printer. I have a Brother MFC-465CN with large capacity refillable cataridges. Plus they are translucent.
