Windows 7/ Ubuntu problem

Thread Starter
So I installed Ubuntu 10.4 the other day in a 200gb partition so I can dual boot win 7 and ubuntu. It was working fine until today. I turned my pc on, it posts, says Verifying DMI Pool Data... All normal stuff. Then under that, it says, "Grub Rescue" and it has a terminal like screen where you can type in commands. ***? I can't even boot into win 7 or ubuntu. I needs help.

Why 10.04? Why not 10.10? Anyways, use your Windows CD to repair so you'll be able to boot into your Windows partition.

Download 10.10 and reinstall on the 10.04 partition. Unless you really want your 10.04, then boot into the LiveCD and use #2 here to fix GRUB.

Now how would I go about removing ubuntu all together. You seem rather intelligent. (that's why I'm not sifting through google to figure this out)

Oh. You can do that in Disk Manager in Windows.
System > Admin Tools > Create and format hard disk partitions.

Nope.
Use the Win7 CD and repair the bootloader.

Follow these instructions and you should be fine(/FixMbr).On another note have you thought about running Ununtu in VM you have enough memory, and it won't mess with your MBR?

you can bypass grub by booting to W7 install disc
pick repair
go command prompt
enter the commands to restore the windows mbr(see post 12)
Once that's done it will boot straight to windows
From windows simply delete the ubuntu partition and format it to ntfs for storage if you want
