Question regarding compression fittings

Thread Starter
hello guys, i recently set up my watercooled system and i am looking to upgrade from barbs to compression fittings, im looking a 7/16 ID by bitspower but they list two different types on Frozen CPU.

http://www.frozencpu.com/products/11...l=g30c409s1203

http://www.frozencpu.com/products/10...l=g30c409s1203

the first one seems to be longer but a little more expensive, can anyone help me understand what the difference is?

Oh OK, the first link is showing $12.99 for the fitting and the second link shows $8.95 the same price as performance pcs. What is the difference between the first and second frozencpu links -- are they the same fitting?

EDIT: Ah I see, one is rotary? Does that mean it can swivel so that you can mount a rad on a hinged door or something?

The first one has a rotary base, so that you can twist the tubing as you install it without the compression fitting coming loose, otherwise they're identical. The only real advantage of the rotary version is during installation, I did have to fight a few of my compressions to stop them coming loose as I tightened the one on the other end of the tube.

Rotary fittings are great, so long as you don't stress them with angled pressure, because then they will leak (maybe not in the beginning, but they will in the end).

Rotary is really only a useful property on 45 degree angle fittings. If you haven't checked out yet I suggest you add 2-4 45 degree rotary compression fittings to your cart as well. (remove 2-4 of the standard ones).
