Did i make a mistake already?

Thread Starter
In order to save money i think i made a big mistake, however, i really don't know. A friend gave me this memory for free: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820145317 which is for a dual slot motherboard. so i decided to just buy another kit in order to have 6 gb as you see on my system specs. Did i make a mistake by not buy this kit instead:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820145318??

I really hope it doesn't matter.

I'm confused; are you worried about compatibly because you're mixing kits or because you're using ram from "dual-channel" kits?

Your asking if you can order another stick and use it in triple channel?
You can use dual channel on 1336 I believe.

No, that's fine. They're the same cards, so they'll work fine. Also, you could have run the two ram sticks in your board and you would have seen little difference.

I think he means he was concerned running a dual channel kit instead of a tri channel kit but I dont know the answer since i've never ran that kind of config though I would assume you wouldn't get your full bandwidth. It would still work fine I think though so yes I think you make a 250$ mistake

From the thread title I was thinking "a mistake joining OCN?"

You have a question that would fit well with in the Intel Memory section of the forum. If you want to introduce yourself, then this is a good place.
